Over the past couple of years since we moved into our home in the Timber Ridge Development just south and east of Quincy, we have heard and felt loud explosions. I can recall this happening approximately four times since we have moved here. It has been theorized they are a result of mining activities associated with a quarry. What is causing the earth shaking and house rattling explosions?
Checked with Quincy Police Chief Rob Copley and Adams County Sheriff Brent Fischer, and neither of them had an answer. Also spoke with Alderman Jennifer Lepper, R-5, who lives in Quincy’s southeastern-most ward, and Adams County Board member Joe Zanger, who holds one of the seats in District 7, the southeastern-most district in the county. Neither of them knew of past explosions.
