About Miss Quincy/Miss Illinois Megan Ervin

Miss Illinois Megan Ervin, 23, of Rushville is competing in the 2013 Miss America pageant in Las Vegas.

Her interview will take place Monday, Jan. 7, with on-stage preliminary competition beginning Tuesday, Jan. 8. The finals will be televised on ABC on Saturday, Jan. 12, beginning at 8 p.m. Central time.

Megan, a daughter of Jeff and Cindy Ervin, is a graduate of Rushville-Industry High School and Western Illinois University. According to her bio on the Miss America website, her scholastic ambition is to obtain a master’s degree in exercise physiology.

Her career ambition is to own and operate her own dance and fitness studio and eventually marketing her own “Cross-Lates” fitness method on DVD.

Megan’s platform issue is “The Heptalthlon of Healthy Habits.” Her talent is lyrical dance.

Megan has several scholastic honors, including WIU dean’s list, National Honor Society and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society.

Her local competition sponsor is Miss Quincy and the state competition sponsor is the Miss Illinois Scholarship Association. She was crowned Miss Quincy on March 24 and Miss Illinois on June 30.
