2011-12 SEASON OUTLOOK

Coach: Andy Douglas (22-8 at Liberty, second season; overall, same).
2010-11 record:
22-8 (5-3, tied for third in the WCC South).
Returning starters:
G/F Jared Shover, 6-2, Sr.; G Jordan Obert, 5-10, Sr.
Other returning letterwinners:
G Michael Blewett, 5-11, Soph.; F Dalton Crawford, 6-5, Sr.; F Isaac Murfin, 6-4, Jr.; G Evan Vollbracht, 5-11, Sr.; G Mason Peter, 5-10, Sr.; F Dakota Daniels, 6-0, Sr.; G Connor Wolf, 5-10, Soph.; F Kody Leapley, 6-2, Soph.
New faces:
None.
Key losses:
F Eric Barry, F Wade Murfin, G/F Dillon Wiewel.
Outlook:
The Eagles started out 6-1 last season but continually improved as the season went on. Their year ended with a four-point loss to Central in the regional championship game on the Panthers’ home court.
Liberty graduated a lot of size in Barry, Wade Murfin and Wiewel. That’s why the Eagles’ strongest area, at least early in the season, will be their guard play.
Shover and Obert both scored more than six points per game and showed great floor leadershp especially as the season went on.
“Our players understand what is expected of them and they bought into my system,” Douglas said. “Our guys dedicated themselves to getting stronger in the offseason. Hopefully that will help us.”
