2011-12 SEASON OUTLOOK
Coach: Mike Johnson (227-118 at Marion County, 16th season; overall, same).
2010-11 record: 30-0
Returning letterwinners: G Randi Lee Plunkett, 5-9, Sr.; F Jessica Redd, 6-1, Sr.; F Rachelle Sharpe, 5-7, Jr.; G Kaelyn Spratt, 5-7, Jr.; G Devan Johnson, 5-7, Soph.
Other returning letterwinners: F Kim Shuck, 5-6, Sr.; G Destiny Johnson, 5-2, Soph.; F Karley Spratt, 5-9, Jr.; G Victoria Hales, 5-8, Soph.
New faces: None.
Key losses: None.
Outlook: The Lady Mustangs are used to dealing with high expectations. For the first time, though, they’ll learn to play through those after winning a Class 1 state championship.
Redd, who recently signed with Truman State, is one of the top small-school players in state after averaging 21.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game. She will get plenty of scoring help, especially from Plunkett who scored 13 points to go with 5.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.
Nine players return who all played roles in last year’s undefeated season.
“The expectations will be high for us this season,” Mike Johnson said. “We are excited about the challenge of trying to be a better team than we were last year.”
