Fantasy racing league for Bullring in 2010?

September 18, 2009 3 Comments

Now that we’re officially in the “off season” as far as the Bullring is concerned, let’s hear some ideas about a possible 2010 fantasy racing league usuing local drivers. The second comment came in about that subject and I think it’s a great idea, but I’d like to hear what some of you think.

What kind of format? All classes? Scoring method?

Send me some of your thoughts!

Heres what a few other tracks do. Marshalltown is really good with getting their results up fast. Check out their website and it shows how they keep track of points. Very nice. Lee county speedway is slacking on theirs. The last time they posted results was a month ago.

Every week when you walk into the gates you pick up a sheet. It list all the drivers. Circle 5 drivers. It can be one from each class. Or you can pick 5 from the same class, and so on. Whatever you want to do. Circle the 5 drivers you want. If theres a driver who shows up who isnt on your sheet, write down his name and car class in the designated area. Hand it in(to designated area) before the first feature. Simple as that.

40 points if your driver won. 39 for second. 38 for third. etc. After your regular season is over, take the top 10 or 12 or whatever you want to do. Have them in a playoff and whoever gets the most points in the postseason wins.

Weekly winner- Free pass into races next week or a sandwhich\side\drink combo.
Season winner-Free season pass for next year.

These are just what other tracks do.

If you take it seriously you can really get some strategy going. Who is better on a black dryslick track. Who is going to start up front. If theres 24 cars in one class and 12 in the other. It may be a good idea to pick 2 people in the class with a lower car count. Assuring you of not having a guy getting 25th in a feature.

I’m not really sure yet about a format, but I’d like to have “Chase” theme be part of it … maybe something like the top 5 or 10 participants qualify for a “Chase” for the Sunday night races in August … just a thought!
