Burgtorf moves closer to King of Ring title

Burgtorf increased his lead Saturday over Lonnie Bailey in the finals of the month-long King of the Ring online tournament. Burgtorf had collected 45.6 percent of the ballot and Bailey 40.6 percent. Hank DeLonjay at 6 percent was third in the six-man field at 5:42 p.m.

Burgtorf and Bailey have staged a classic voting duuel most of the week, swapping the lead numerous times the first four days of the competition. Burgtorf had been the leader for the better part of two days and has slowly been increasing his advantage.

Voting continues through Sunday night.

The tournament has featured for Quincy Raceways track champions with at least two track titles to their credit. Burgtorf, DeLonjay and Steve Fraise had byes into the finals.

qr3Three days remain and it’s still too close to call.

The fans of Mark Burgtorf moved his lead 4 percent overnight and beginning action Friday morning he showed 43.4 percent o the vote and Lonnie Bailey 39.4 percent as the two continue a memorable duel for the King of the Ring online tournament title. Hank DeLonjay at 7.1 percent sits third in the six-man finals, which also include Michael Long, Eddie Dieker and Steve Fraise.

The finals of this month-long tourney for former Quincy Raceways champions with at least two track titles has been everything it was expected to be — and then some. Burgtorf and Bailey are two of the most popular drivers in track history and this week’s balloting indicates just that.

Mark Burgtorf has opened the widest lead to date in his fascinating duel with late model rival Lonnie Bailey in the six-man King of the Ring online tournament finals.

Burgtorf showed 41.8 percent of the vote at 12:56 a.m. Thursday, with Bailey checking in atg 35.2 percent.

Hank DeLonjay was third with 9.5 percent. Michael Long, Steve Fraise and Eddie Dieker round out the finals field.

Voting continues through Sunday night.

The month-long event began the first week in February and involved all former Quincy Raceways track champions who had won at least two titles.

Burgtorf has 14 track crowns to his credit, the most of any driver in Bullring history. DeLonjay has 13.

They’re tied — again!

qr2And the battle rages on.

Supporters of both Mark Burgtorf and Lonnie Bailey continue to cast ballots in the King of the Ring online tournament for former Quincy Raceways track champions, and they continue to cast those votes in equal proportion.

Bailey and Burgtorf were tied again as of 11:27 a.m. Wednesday, each with 37.3 percent of the ballot. Hank DeLonjay was third with 11.6 percent.

Voting continues through Sunday night.

This is the final week of the month-long King of the Ring event. Drivers with a minimum of two track titles to their credit were eligible when play opened the first week in February.

Bailey opens up some breathing room

crownkkkLonnie Bailey opened up some breathing room on Mark Burgtorf as day two of the King of the Ring online tournament drew to a close. Bailey had reeled in 38.4 percent of the vote and Burgorf 35.3 percent at 10:58 p.m. Tuesday.

Bailey and Burgtorf supporters have gone back and forth throughout the first two days of the balloting. Voting concludes Sunday night, capping a month-long tournament that began with 17 former Quincy Raceways champs who had won at least two titles.

Hank DeLonjay moved up to 12.9 percent and Eddie Dieker to 5.9 percent. Michael Long and Steve Fraise both ahd less than 5 percent of the votes.

Bailey, Burgtorf deadlocked as balloting continues

kingThe votes continues to roll in for both Mark Burgtorf and Lonnie Bailey in what is building toward a classic week of balloting in the championship round of the King of the Ring online tournament, which has matched current former Quincy Raceways track champions.

At 1:58 p.m. Tuesday, both Burgtorf and Bailey had collected 36.1 percent of the ballot. Hank DeLonjay sat third with 11.9 percent. Michael Long, Steve Fraise and Eddie Dieker rounded out the six-man finals field.

Voting continues through Sunday night. The month-long tournament began with 17 drivers who had won two or more track titles.

Bailey takes King of Ring lead from Burgtorf

qr1Lonnie Bailey has surged ahead of Mark Burgtorf as day two unfolds in the King of the Ring online tournament featuring the creme de la creme of current and former Quincy Raceways track champions.

Bailey had 39.6 percent of the vote as of 8:10 a.m. Tuesday and Burgtorf 37.4 percent. Hank DeLonjay (10.1 percent) continued in third among the six drivers to have reached the title round in the month-long event. Steve Fraise, Michael Long and Eddie Dieker are also in the finals lineup.

Votes have already been received at least 14 different states.

Burgtorf, Bailey going door-to-door in early going

Late in the first day of voting in the finals of the month-long, King of the Ring online tournament, Mark Burgtorf and Lonnie Bailey are hooked up in dandy one-on-one battle.

Burgtorf has commanded 37 percent of the vote and Bailey 33. 7 percent at 9:51 p.m. Monday. And there are more than six days remaining! This should be interesting.

Hank DeLonjay at 12 percent sits third. Michael Long, Steve Fraise and Eddie Dieker round out the field. Burgtorf and Bailey shot out to a huge lead early in the day, but the other four have been slowly chipping away at the margins.

Voting continues through Sunday night.

King of the Ring finals set

qr3Lonnie Bailey, Michael Long and Eddie Dieker have advanced to the finals of the King of the Ring online tournament. They were the top three vote-getters in the semifinals and now join Mark Burgtorf, Hank DeLonjay and Steve Fraise in the championship round.

Voting starts today and continues through Feb. 28.

Bailey garnered the most semifinal votes, securing 26.7 percent of the balloting. Long had 23.8 percent and Dieker 16.2 percent. Dieker held off a late charge by Tony Dunker, who wound up fourth with 13.4 percent. Terry Gallaher wound up fifth with 10.8 percent.

Voting for the semifinals ended at midnight Sunday.

The month-long tournament was set up in four rounds, consisting of former Quincy Raceways track champs who had won at least two track titles. Burgtorf, with 14 championships, Delonjay with 13 and Fraise with nine were guaranteed spots in the finals.

It’s a sprint to the finish; Dieker tries to hold off Dunker

Tony Dunker is making a late weekend charge to try and oust Eddie Dieker from the third and final transfer spot in the King of the Ring online tournament semifinals.

Dieker continues to hold steady with 15.4 percent of the vote at 4:29 p.m. Sunday, but Dunker has climbed to 13.2 percent as the midnight voting deadline is about 7 1/2 hours away.

Lonnie Bailey’s 27.1 percent leads the balloting, followed by Michael Long (24.4 percent).

Next week’s finals will be a six-man competition to determine the King of the Ring. Living legends Mark Burgtorf, Hank DeLonjay and Steve Fraise (who have 36 track titles between them) had automatic byes into the finals.

The month-long competeition — featuring current and retired drivers with multiple track championships — began with two weeks of first-round pairings involving two-time track champs. The top two vote-getters from those rounds advanced to this week’s 10-driver semifinals. Drivers with three and four track titles to their credit received a bye to the second round.
