King of the Ring finals set

qr3Lonnie Bailey, Michael Long and Eddie Dieker have advanced to the finals of the King of the Ring online tournament. They were the top three vote-getters in the semifinals and now join Mark Burgtorf, Hank DeLonjay and Steve Fraise in the championship round.

Voting starts today and continues through Feb. 28.

Bailey garnered the most semifinal votes, securing 26.7 percent of the balloting. Long had 23.8 percent and Dieker 16.2 percent. Dieker held off a late charge by Tony Dunker, who wound up fourth with 13.4 percent. Terry Gallaher wound up fifth with 10.8 percent.

Voting for the semifinals ended at midnight Sunday.

The month-long tournament was set up in four rounds, consisting of former Quincy Raceways track champs who had won at least two track titles. Burgtorf, with 14 championships, Delonjay with 13 and Fraise with nine were guaranteed spots in the finals.

    we lost one of the best modified drivers in the last round. he won 3 a-mod titles and the springfield mile. he could run the bottom better than anyone. he just retired to soon.
