Races to start at 6:30 p.m. in 2011

The changes continue at the Bullring.

Quincy Raceways officials have announced the starting time for 2011 races will be 6:30 p.m., and a more concerted effort effort will made to start on time.

Last season the starting time was moved up to 5:30 p.m., but no program began on time at any point of the season. That was one of the major complaints from fans last season and one of the issues management vowed to address in the offseason in preparation for 2011.

The new itinerary for 2011 will see the drivers’ meeting at 5:30 p.m., followed by hot laps at 5:45 and racing at 6:30. Pit gates will open at 3:30.

Wow. Is there ANY fans or racers who want to start an hour LATER than last year? The few drivers who did show up , were always pleased by getting on the road at 8:30-9:00 oclock so they could get the car unloaded and to bed by midnight.

Like you said Stevie, races didn’t start on time ONE TIME this season. That tells you something right there. So kick it back another hour eh? All I can do is shake my head.

For the sake of the track and bringing in money, the sportmods would of been the best choice for Quincy Raceways in 2011. They would of had a solid car count weekly with great racing. They could of had a few specials and brought in b-mod\sportmod drivers from all over the tri state area. I guess 2 or 3 hornet wild thing drivers must of did some sweet talking.

dirt racing was always meant to be done at night . this is to prevent the sun from drying the track out and creating a surface that is so dry and dusty the fans can’t see anything, and the cars are going so slow it looks like the parade laps, or a follow the leader no pass situation. there isn’t any reason the last race can’t be over by 9:45. a little moisture will insure good, fast racing, with fewer cautions. properly done as proven in the past and at other tracks, a fast , tacky, smooth surface makes for the best racing. it appears as a good effort is being made, i hope they don’t forget about some of the other issues that have caused the downward trend.

I don’t have a problem with the time, As long as they start right on time. I am just glad they are trying to fix their problems. I am ready to go racing, I have a long winter.
