Word arrived today that UMP modifieds and IMCA stock cars will be running for national and regional points Sunday night at the Bullring. Track officials said both sanctioning had bodies OK’d the request from Quincy Raceways.

Track points for all classes except late models will not begin until April 10, which is also the night of the Deery Brothers Summer Series tour stop. Late model track points begin April 24.

All five weekly classes will be in action Sunday, including the debut/return of the four-cylinder wild things.

Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m., grandstands at 4:30, driver registration ends and drivers meeting are both at 5:30, hot Laps at 5:45 and racing action at 6:30.

  1. just me says:

I have a feeling that with the new IMCA rules on the rev limiters it’s going to be like watching the b modifieds at Donnelson run. The motors shutting off about 3/4′s the way down the straight aways.

  2. why me says:

Sorry but this deserves dumb comment of the week. They can crank up to 8000 rpm. If people can afford to crank more than that then they are spending too much money. The rule was made so the cars will be more even. Which equals better racing. Are you against that?

My opinion, like it has always been, run what you brung, if you cant afford to run with the big dogs, leave it in the garage

  4. Why me says:

Thats why so many people can’t race any more and tracks are dropping like flies. Because of people like you who think if they outspend everyone else they will be the fastest. There will be more wild things than late models at quincy sometimes this year.why? Cheaper! Look at how well sportmods have took off. Why? Cheaper than an amod! Doesnt take much to figure it out.
