Wet weather wins again — no racing Sunday night

April 29, 2012 16 Comments

Sunday night racing at Quincy Raceways fell victim — again — to spring showers and wet grounds. For the third straight week, racing had to be postponed. Track authorities made the official call shortly before noon.

No word yet on a makeup date for NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace, who was scheduled to drive a UMP modified Sunday night against the Bullring regulars.

The good news about all of this? Next Sunday will be May, so maybe all of the horrible April weather will officially be in the rear-view mirror.

I PM’D Mother Nature as to why she was making it rain on Sundays. She replied she was tired of seeing Dunker win. Now flyby you officially have something you can blame Dunker for.

When was the last time Quincy had a two-day show? Officials should work on a race the first weekend of November. Everyone else will be done racing by then and the last few years the weather has been great that weekend. It’s a risk of course, but if they get good weather with a decent payout, don’t be surprised to see 150 or more cars.

Um just a random question floating around in my head. I know someone said something bout Lil Bailey changing his tires and being able to race UMP, so I mean I know he gets track points from QR but I’m unsure if he’s awarded just regular UMP points. In my head he is but could the panel confirm or deny that for sure please.

  5. Jack says:

JAF Yes any driver who buys a UMP License, which is required, will get UMP points

  6. bullringfan says:

yes,he gets UMP points when he races that class and IMCA points when he goes to Iowa and races IMCA sanctioned races.

From high atop the water tower in beautiful downtown Mt. Sterling, Il. I can in all honesty feel sorry for all the guys who haven’t been able to race for three weeks. Being involved with a stockcar program we have only missed one week due to managements wise decisions. Poor old Mr. Dirt has run out of material to enlighten us fans. Its time for the blondes to step in and liven this blog up.

  8. showstopper says:

The blondes couldn’t liven much up. Everybody’s I.Q. points drop drastically after reading their post. Anyone know the results for Fulton friday night?

  9. flyby says:

NO ONE BELIEVES IN A TWO DAY SHOW? COME ON PEOPLE LETS GET SOME WHEELS TURNING.

  10. rizzle says:

2 day show sounds great but the purse will be the biggest thing guys wont come and race for 2 days for lil pay as we all know! Too bad it couldnt be a lucas oil lm or ascs sprint car national event those guys put on great shows.

  11. leadfoot says:

I remember when they had the Busch all star tour at QR saturday was qualifying and raced on sunday. Some big money and some big name guys were here to.

  12. flyby says:

Start now work on getting a sponsor for each class. It would come together fast. It doesn’t need to be huge money but if it was some decent money the cars would come. Look at what Memphis did. Who would like to see a weekend like Memphis at Quincy? BBQ in the pits afterwards. Dunker Concrete would happily supply the kegs. The only class that wouldn’t pull in many out of town cars is the Hobby Stocks.

  13. TEAMFOURBOSS says:

WE CANT BE CONTRADICTIVE. AT THE START OF THE YEAR ALL THE TALK WAS DRIVERS WOULD BE AT QUINCY CHASING POINTS…….NOW FANS WANNA HAVE THEM MISS A SAT NITE OF POINTS TO QUALIFY FOR A SUNDAY SHOW??

    NEVER HAPPEN – JMO BUT………………AFTER ALL…………………………

    “I AM…………………. NUMBER FOUR”

  14. flyby says:

This would be after the points are over. Imca points end in September Donker.

  15. flyby says:

    Ump ends in late October.

  16. showstopper says:

Sounds like a great idea. Run two complete shows and top four from prelim night are locked into dash for the following night. Ive been to numerous world of outlaw 2 days shows and thats how they do it. This would probably severely confuse the blondes tho!
