Guss wins third straight IMCA national title
I know, I know. The Bullring is now a UMP late model track, but for those who remember the IMCA era at 8000 Broadway, I thought you might be interested in knowing Ray Guss Jr. won his third straight national title. Guss bested Todd Cooney by a single point, 810-809, in becoming the first driver [...]
Steady drivers, big surprises and where are they?
First, the good news. It’s still racing season. We have four Sunday nights left in the schedule at 8000 Broadway. Secondly, the bad news. The weather forecast does not look promising for the weekend, thanks to the peripheral effects of Hurricane Isaac or Tropical Storm Isaac or whatever it is tormenting the Gulf Coast region. [...]
DeLonjay, Dunker, Houston will likely be first drivers to clinch 2012 track championships at the Bullring
The remaining weeks of points racing can be counted on one hand. Actually, three fingers. That means we can have some fun figuring out what some specific drivers need to average finish-wise to win a track championship. The three most lopsided races right now are in the UMP modifieds, IMCA sport mods and the IMCA [...]
The few, the proud, the UMP mod winners
Talk about domination, and you’re talking about the UMP modified division at Quincy Raceways. Probably the one item that stands out to me the most is the number of different feature winners since 2009, the year the track affiliated with UMP. Would you believe … nine? Believe it. In the almost-four years of UMP racing, [...]
No racing Sunday night
The rains finally came. Unfortunately, they came on a Sunday and washed out action at Quincy Raceways. Racing will return Sunday, Sept. 2, with a 5:30 p.m. start time. Sorry this got up about an hour late, but I was in a buffet line in Hannibal, Mo. And yes, the food was good. Very good.

The PhotoBilly 50 will pay tribute to Haffer, 44, who was the track photographer at several tracks in the region — including Quincy Raceways — prior to [...]

Drum roll, please … New qualifying format for late models, modifieds is official
Quincy Raceways is altering the landscape of both its UMP late model and modified divisions. Both classes will now be qualifying and both will feature a “Quick 6″ dash, beginning Sunday night. Needless to say, both series will take on a new look. The format for qualifying is still being ironed out as you read [...]
Update on new qualifying format
OK, peace out, guys. There WILL be a new — and it sounds like an exciting — qualifying format in place for Sunday night. I had to yank down Thursday’s information, because track ownership felt it still needed to tweak part of the rules package. To have left what would have been incomplete information would [...]
Kenny Wallace returns to Quincy on Sunday
Kenny Wallace, who has been a regular in all three of NASCAR’s top series — Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck — will return to Quincy Raceways for a second time this season Sunday night. Wallace, who also serves as a NASCAR television analyst, will be driving his UMP modified. Racing begins Sunday at [...]
