MOWA sprint cars have two 2013 dates at Quincy
The Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) sprint cars will return to Quincy Raceways for two 2013 dates. Track officials have finished ironing out the dates with MOWA representatives, who will bring their 410-cubic inch power plants to the Bullring on May 26 (Memorial Day weekend) and Sept. 1 (Labor Day weekend).
The late models will not run at Quincy either of those two weekends, but the rest of the weekly series — UMP modifieds, IMCA sport mods, IMCA stock cars and IMCA sport compacts — will be in action.
The Bullring has 25 Sunday nights on the 2013 schedule, plus the July 2 return of the UMP Summer Nationals late model Hell Tour.
2012 MOWA POINTS LEADERS
1. Jerrod Hull, 1,500.5 points
2. A.J. Bruns, 1,310.5
3. Korey Weyant, 1,224.5
4. Jim Moughan, 1,205.5
5. Ben Wagoner, 1,185.5
the two biggest weekends in racing and the home track is parking the late models……
sorry to say this but thats a poor decision.
A VERY POOR DECISION…………………
SOMEBODY NEEDS TO WAKE THE HELL UP…………..
I THINK YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK AT THE LIST OF DRIVERS IN THE UNSEATING OF LIL-CRANK……………. I KNOW OF ONE DRIVER WHO’S MOVING UP A CLASS………..
i agree with wood pile … who in the world decided no late models for memorial day weekend and labor day weekend????? parking late models for SPRINT CARS — ARE YOU KIDDING ME??????
cancel the sprintcars and keep the late models.
WELL I SEE THERE ARE TWO NIGHTS I WON’T BE GOING TO THE TRACK. NO LATE MODELS? THAT’S A BRILLIANT MOVE.
I see these other comments about the no late models on Memorial and Labor Day weekends and I have to wonder about the decision. For the past year-plus, we have read a lot about the new late models and how great they are. I agree, the UMP late models have been a wonderful addition — so why drop your most popular class?
I don’t understand the decision to drop your premier class on what should be your biggest weekends of the summer, but this just gives other tracks the oppertunity to schedule late model specials these nights. Hello Burlington, Peoria, Jacksonville, Granite City give us a place to race
THESE COMMENTS ARE COMING FROM LATE MODEL GUYS OF COURSE ……YOU (whiners), HALF OF YOU WILL GET A BAD CALL AGAINST YOU AND NOT COME BACK FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON ANYWAYS…..WHAA WHAAA WHAAAA……CRYING BEFORE THE SEASON HAS STARTED…..THERE ARE SPRINT CAR FANS TOO YOU SELF CENTERED………..THERE WAS WHAT ONE SPRINT CAR RACE AT QUINCY ALL YEAR AND IT WAS BETTER THEN ANY OF THE LATE MODEL RACES…..HEY REMEMBER WHEN DONKER TRIED TO RACE A LATE MODEL NOW THAT WAS FUNNY…..
If anything drop the class that there will only be 5 or 6 cars as usual racing. How dumb is this. DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
the july 2 lm special is on a tuesday wanna bet it is as well attended as either one of these sprint car shows (who will get the added benefit of a full program supporting them minus lm class). you know the owners can show all us dumb race fans they know best with a little experiment have the sprints on sunday before memorial day as they are planning then memorial monday have lm regular weekly purse with a couple support classes then labor day switch it up have regular program on sunday have sprints and couple support classes on labor day monday dont know what the rest of you all think but im pretty sure i know what the results will be. i never understood why keep scheduling something a majority arent asking for you may have better results if some of the weekly locals could race in the class your bringing in for the special usmts anyone?
WELL, HERE’S YOUR CHANCE. YOU SAY YOU LISTEN TO THE DRIVERS AND FANS AND FACTOR THEIR COMMENTS INTO DECISION MAKING. BASED ON THIS BLOG IT LOOKS LIKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT IS PENDING ON HAVING A FULL SLATE OF “WEEKLY” SERIES CARS BOTH HOLIDAY WEEKENDS.
YOUR TURN QUINCY, WHATS THE PLAN?????????????
Looks like Kevin Gundaker has already scheduled a late model show on May 26th at Tri-city Speedway.
Just how many “local” sprint car drivers are there? How many sprint cars and their fans support the track?? NONE!!! I agree 100% with Keith….. And don’t forget…Tri-city has other classes as well!! Promoters/owners……STUPID MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!
Tri City has had a $10,000 to win UMP late model show on Memorial Day Sunday for several years. this may be one reason the sprints were scheduled for this night. According to the schedule out today, LM will be on the card Labor Day Sunday along with sprints.
to mr superfan who thought the sprints were a better show than anything late models did last season the guy who won the sprint feature body slammed the guy who was leading on the last lap then admitted after the race to doing so to get the win if this is your idea of good racing make sure you mark your calender for the monster trucks this year sounds like your kinda thing your the guy who watches nascar for the wrecks right? looks like they are having lm on the labor day deal which is good but why drop the other two classes unless its for the program running too late with the noise thing lets run them it is a holiday weekend after all
One day
