DIRTYimages1Austen Becerra has dominated the sport compact series this season on the track, and showed through recent online voting he’s also the man to beat off the track.

Becerra finished first in the annual Stevie Dirt blog fans’ balloting for their pick as the series’ DIRT-y Driver of the Year. Becerra earned 36 percent of the vote to outdistance Alex Baker and four other sport compact drivers:

1. Austen Becerra, 332 votes, 36 percent
2. Alex Baker, 239 votes. 26 percent
3. Laine Van Zant, 154, 17 percent
Others: Pat Dunker, Kim Abbott, Brandon Lambert.

This is the fifth year for the DIRT-y Driver(s) of the Year voting, but only the second for the sport compacts:

SPORT COMPACT DIRT-Y DRIVERS OF THE YEAR
2013: Austen Becerra
2012: Kim Abbott

Up next is voting for the stock cars, which will run through midnight Friday.

I bet $5 and a cold one that the sport compacts will have the most votes for dirty driver of the year…. Just a feeling I have. Who knew that class would have the most action, drama, storylines!!! I stay just so I can see what happens next with the 4 bangers. Add a dunker to anything and its going to be fun!
