Much of the buzz Sunday night will be about the Hall of Fame inductions, but there should also be some decent on-track action among the five weekly series. There are just four weeks remaining, so every race counts, bay-bee. It’s go time:
Pick to click: Assuming Brandon Sheppard and Bobby Pierce will be on hand, I’m going with B-Shepp for two in a row. If those two are chasing bigger paychecks elsewhere, how about Denny Woodworth all but cementing that track title away with his first checkred flag of the season?
Best bet for a comeback: Jason Perry’s seventh-place finish a week ago was his lowest since mid-summer. Go with the No. 27 car to return to the front of the pack.
That’s a fact, Jack: The last time a driver started 10th or deeper in a feature and won was Woodworth in August 2010.
Pick to click: Dave Wietholder seems to building a late-season head of steam for one final push at Steven DeLonjay. I’m going with Wietholder winning a second straight main event.
Best bet for a comeback: Well, considering DeLonjay did not win (for a change) last week, I guess he’s the logical choice, eh?
That’s a fact, Jack: The most flag-to-flag victories among local mod drivers since 2010 — DeLonjay 11, Michael Long 7, Wietholder 2, Jared Schlipman 2. DeLonjay has five of his total this season.
Pick to click: Tony Dunker. (Seriously, what else is there to say?)
Best bet for a comeback: Todd Reed finished ninth the last time the sport mods ran — which followed a third-place finish in his season debut the week prior. Look for Todd and his sweet-looking new car to return to the top five.
That’s a fact, Jack: Career feature laps led in this series (2012-13) — Dunker 327 of 610 total, Bobby Anders 98, Jeff DeLonjay 53, Jim Gillenwater 53, Joe Bliven 25, Tanner Klingele 22.
Pick to click: Points leader Abe Huls officially turns the stock car class into a runaway.
Best bet for a comeback: Brandon Savage bounces back from that somewhat disappointing fourth-place finish two weeks ago.
That’s a fact, Jack: Terry Houston has led the series four straight years in second-half points, but this season sits third — Savage 272, Huls 271, Houston 259.
Pick to click: The Mighty Becerra. Austen wins his fifth straight feature.
Best bet for a comeback: Kim Abbott’s pink car.
That’s a fact, Jack: Career second-place feature finishes — Seth Woodruff 9, Kim Abbott 8, Craig Bangert 6.
