The Dirty Thirty

August 25, 2014 21 Comments

Dirty-301. Michael Long: How close would that modified points race be if Michael had not missed one points week?
2. Steven DeLonjay: A year ago, Steven led 254 feature laps. So far this seaason he has been in front 73.
3. Denny Woodworth: Denny has not finished outside the top five in a feature since May 11.
4. Tony Dunker: Tony and Pat are planning King of the Bullring II. We’ll have the details soon.
5. Mark Burgtorf: Mark’s feature win from his No. 2 starting position on Sunday means seven of the 11 late model feature winners this season have come from the first row. Three more have come from the second row.

Brandon Savage

Brandon Savage

6. Brandon Savage: He’s the hottest driver at the track right now. He’s won three straight features. No other driver has more than one. Savage has also now led 67 feature laps, almost double No. 2 on that list (Nathan Hayes, 37).
7. Abe Huls: Four of the six stock car titles have been decided by 12 points or less, including three by five or less. This year’s battle between Honest Abe and Brandon Savage will probably be another.
8. Austen Becerra: Austen needs four more victories (heats and/or features) to become the seventh driver in the track’s modern era — since 1999 — to reach 20 overall wins in a season. He would be the first four-cylinder driver to manage the feat.
9. Jason Perry: Jason leads late model drivers in overall victories (6).
10. Joey Gower: Joey’s feature win Sunday was his first since June 1 after had won three of the first six sport mod main events of the season.

11. Tanner Klingele: One more victory in a heat or feature and Tanner will have doubled his 2013 win total of four.
12. Bobby Anders: Awesome-looking new car.
13. Dave Wietholder: Hopefully, Dave will be able to climb back into that No. 05 before the season ends. If not, just use the offseason to get healthy for 2015.
14. Shawn Deering: Shawn leads the modified series in imporvement points, the number of positions a driver improves his starting position in a feature.
15. Terry Houston: Terry is third in second-half stock car points with 179, trailing only Brandon Savage (188) and Abe Huls (186).

Justin Reed

Justin Reed

16. Justin Reed: Incredibly, Justincredible has not led a feature lap since May 11.
17. Brad Holtmeyer: Brad hasn’t led a feature lap since June 15.
18. Gordy Gundaker: I hope Gordy is a regular from the first week on in 2015. Of course, the QU baseball season might have something to do with that.
19. Ricky Frankel: Are we going to see “33A” and a “33B” cars?
20. Craig Spegal: Craig was one the MIA drivers Sunday.

Clint Kirkham

Clint Kirkham

21. Keith Pratt: Those Jacksonville walls can be rather nasty.
22. Kim Abbott: We need to add Kim to the list of most improved drivers for 2014.
23. Clint Kirkham: Sunday marked the one-year anniversary of the famous DQ.
24. Jared Schlipman: Li’l Schlip’s got four weeks left to get that first modified feature win since May 27, 2012.
25. Brandon Lennox: Hey, at least the sticker was in place this week.
26. Jerry Jansen: The ole car looked pretty stout, Jerry.
27. Adam Birck: Good to see Adam back running up front.
28. Jake Powers: Jake’s car has taken a worse beating this summer than Sam Bradford.
29. Brandon Lambert: Not every Sunday night can be a success.
30. Seith Woodruff: Here’s another driver we want to see full-time in 2015.

The Ole Rage Chassis powered by Tim’s Machine shop is running pretty good right now, but I was told by Honest Abe that he is tired of finishing 2nd so the heat is on for this week. Can we make the finish any closer? It’s hard to gain points on him when he comes in 2nd though.

Should be atleast one more stockcar back at the track this week, hopefully a few more as well. I like to see a good field of cars!!!

  2. Fordracer06 says:

Thanks Stevie, I said I was planning on given Lady Luck a swift kick back. It was fun to have a good night for a change. I need to figure out how to rim ride like Brandon, Abe, and Terry was doing Sunday. Man they were fast up there on the cushion.

  3. KENNY PRATT says:

Dirt man , it wasn’t the wall that caused our situation !!!!!

It was the _$$ clown that started on the pole, caused a huge crash and finished last in his heat then I believe missed the feature….

    I am:

    Kenny Pratt
    205 Ash st
    Ursa Illinois

    Don’t call , just show up !!!!!

  4. Jimmy John says:

KP inform us, we weren’t there who is the idiot.

  5. KENNY PRATT says:

JJ, we have not spoke to the other driver and social media isn’t the place to “call someone out”

All I know is it looks as if we’re finished for 2014.

Draw for heats and passing points reminds me of imca inversions. It places cars and drivers up front where some aren’t ready for yet.

However, rules are rules and we played the game and lost. We must have had Aces n Eights (spades n clubs) last friday night. Never did see the down card though….lol

    Big KP
YALL KNOW WHERE TA FIND ME
ICE BOX FULL OF NATTYS TOO

  6. KENNY PRATT says:

PS: JJ THANKS FOR ASKING THOUGH

  7. Kenny D says:

I could be wrong, but I could swear there was this taller fella wearing a bright sleeveless T-shirt who on a couple of occasions indicated that passing points were where we should go with Modifieds in Quincy. Think his name was the same as mine. Is my memory slipping with age?

  8. KENNY PRATT says:

Kenny , not me buddy. I’m a firm believer in qualifying. Ocasionally a good top 6 driver will step on his we-we and thats his problem. But seldom will a flop-flop qualify up front finished his heat up front and start on the front row.

Just cuz we’re were finished for the year PLEASE keep the 16oz NATTYS iced down….ill be there every night.

    BIG KP
    YALL KNOW THE ROUTINE

  9. dirt wizard says:

Ain’t no wayyyyyyy the pratt team wants to do passing points. He passed as many cars last week as he has all year out there and he didn’t even show. Seems to me like a so called “showfiller” from Jacksonville came out and put a show on. Maybe jville is the place to be.

  10. Jimmy John says:

Kenny, any video’s from sunday night?

  11. Kenny D says:

Randy will get the videos up in within a day or so. I think he’s back in school so time is probably harder to come by in editing them. Keep your eye on the website and our facebook page.

  12. lmfan says:

I attend numerous passing point/inversion races (MARS, MLRA,IMCA, etc.) and there is no more wrecking than in the boring fast cars start up front freight-train racing I see at a lot of the UMP shows (not all of them).

  13. lmfan says:

And let me add, the racing is MUCH better in those series.

  14. TEAMFOURBOSS says:

OKAY….WHATD I MISS THAT HAVING PASSING POINTS IN HEATS PUTS CRAPPY DRIVERS UP FRONT?

HOW ARE THEY CRAPPY IF THEY PASSED CARS IN HEAT TO EARN THEIR FEATURE STARTING SPOT?

MAYBE ITS HOW PEOPLE THINK I GET FAVORTISM BUT IM ON KENNY D’S SIDE, I BELIEVE OLE K.P WAS THE “I HATE QUALIFYING” GUY BUT NOT WORTH THE TIME TO LOOK BACK & SEE FOR SURE, FACT IS NOW….HE DON’T

AND DONT COMPARE IT TO IMCA BIG SHOOTER, US IMCA GUYS ARE DOIN FINE (THEM UNDERPOWERED SPORTMODS) HAVE THE HIGHEST CAR COUNT & ALOTTA THE WEEK TO WEEK BEST FEATURES TO WATCH & WE EARN OUR FEATURE FINISHES THEY AINT GIMME’S

    ANYWHOOOS, KEEP ENJOYIN THE SHOW

  15. SKIPP says:

    TEN 4
INVERT N MAKEM EARN IT !!!!!!

  16. stu12 says:

One guy going to boone from sportmod class in quincy put th back on the card for sunday

  17. Travis grotz says:

Tony no feature win is a gimme don’t care what class or sanction your racing in period get real dude !

  18. B-47s says:

The ole stockcar finishes aren’t to bad either T Dunk. We are more for the quality not the quantity….LOL.

  19. Jimmy John says:

Just watched the features and interviews, features were great, interviews were like some redneck that has no clue. I agree Skip does a lot for the track, I would never take that away from him. Great Job Skip. But please let someone else do the interviews, if an outsider would look at the video’s they would think who is this guy. No I don’t want the job but please find someone else. Maybe Doug could come down and do them, just a thought.

  20. Keith Pratt says:

So now starting up front with guys like Long, Delonjay, Wietholder or Burgtorf, Woodworth or Reed is supposed to be a gimme? My opinion…..it is harder to win that way. With inverts it is a race through the “traffic”. With straight up starts you have to beat the best.

  21. TEAMFOURBOSS says:

HEY TRAVIS, ONCE AGAIN PULL YOUR HEAD OUTA (the sand).
I SAID “FINISH”…NOT FEATURE WIN CUZ UR RITE NO WIN IS GIMME….DUDE

FURTHER EXPLAINED K.P – THERE IS A GREAT GROUP OF UMP MOD DRIVERS AT QRW. WITH THE FORMAT USED THE FASTEST CARS ARE LINED UP IN TOP 6 CORRECT? THE DICE ROLL SHAKES IT UP A BIT BUT FAST SIX ARE….FAST SIX.
MAYBE 2 OR 3 “PASSES” (NOT SO-N-SO BROKE N A GUY MOVED UP) IN TOP 6 IN 25 LAP FEATURE. YOU CAN NAME 4 OF TOP 5 CARS EVERYNITE, SO YEA YOU START TOP 5 ITS PURDY MUCH A GIMME YOULL FINISH TOP 5 IF YA DONT BREAK.
INVERT YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE BEST YOUR LINED UP BACK THERE WITH & RACE THRU TRAFFIC. UR POPS EVEN CALLED UR NEW FOUND FRIEND FROM J-VILLE A DUMB DUMB BACK MARKER. TRY PASSING SIX OR SO OF THEM GUYS THEN RACING WITH THE “BEST” ONCE YA GET TOWARDS THE FRONT…WITH ONLY 18 LAPS TO DO IT.

OPINIONS VARY HAVE A FUN WINTER
