Get ready to say hello to $4-a-gallon gas

Posted by – April 11, 2011

The Lundberg Survey said the national average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gas was $3.765 on Friday, up from $3.573 on March 18, and up 91.3 cents from $2.852 a year ago. Some are predicting this spike could threaten the nation’s all-time high.

Of course, gas prices in Quincy blew past the national average last week, then jumped another 16 cents a gallon Monday to hit $3.96. Might have to break out the scooter.

Let’s recap:  There is political unrest in Egypt and a major winter storm is about to hammer one-third of the United States.

Wonder what the odds are for gas prices to spike? Not that oil companies have a history of cashing in when there is turmoil somewhere in the world or disasters strike, or anything.
